If you want to talk about music, 17-year-old Annalupe Rodriquez from Oracle might be a good place to start.

She played the piano for 11 years under the training of Oracle’s Elaine Helzer, as well as taking voice lessons.

But that’s not all she accomplished. She also plays the French horn and the guitar.

She graduated from Canyon del Oro High School this year where she sang in the choir, accompanied backing vocals and backing vocals, performed with a chamber band and performed in the orchestra, as well as traveling to New York to perform. while in high school.

She said she had a play partner with the accompaniments.

“He was really good at improvisation – adding all the extra notes. I can’t do that, but I can sight read (play a song she’s never seen before with little to no errors.) So we made a good combination, ”she said. .

When the suggestion was made to her comrade Isaac Tineo from San Manuel to do a benefit concert to help raise funds for her grandfather, in typical Annalupe style, she volunteered to perform as well. .

The two will combine their talents to help raise $ 55,000 in donations to help Daniel Tineo of San Manuel undergo urgent brain surgery to remove a tumor from his pituitary gland.

Their joint concert is scheduled for Saturday July 10 at 2 p.m. at the Oracle Piano Society Performing Arts Center. Participants will be invited to donate in lieu of ticket sales and wear a mask. There will be a bake sale after the concert.

Annalupe is the daughter of Juan and Maria Rodriquez, owners of DeMarco’s restaurant in Oracle. She plans to attend the University of Arizona to major in piano performance, while continuing to work on her voice.

While her playing partner Isaac leans towards classical music, Annalupe cites jazz as her favorite.

“I can feel it and love the sound,” she said.

She is also an avid reader and enjoys journaling.

“I like to write it by hand, not use a computer, I like the feel of the pencil in my hand.”

Her parents are very proud of her.

“When we lived in Mexico, we had grades. And we had nothing when we got married. We wanted our kids to have more than we had, ”Juan said.

“We wanted to open doors for our children and the music was Annalupe’s Door. We wanted them to do something they love and be happy, ”said Maria.

Her father added, “She listens to us.”

Dr Stephen Cook, Founder and Artistic Director of the Oracle Piano Society and Professor / Director of the Online Conservatory worked with Annalupe to prepare for her college auditions and said she was Elaine’s most advanced student, describing her as “fantastic” as well as “hardworking, dedicated and unique”.

Pianist Isaac Tineo does not play for the Living Word Chapel, as reported in last week’s Miner. He plays for the Full Gospel Fellowship Church of God in San Manuel.
