HE may be one of the biggest stars in showbiz, but Rob Beckett wants fans to see him less.
The presenter and comedian – a brilliant semi-double act starring Romesh Ranganathan – wants to lose weight and get buff by his 40th birthday.
The father-of-two joked: “My diet is an absolute horror show.
“I’m being nice to myself because this year has been very busy, but from next year you look.
“I’ll be 37 in January, which gives me three years to do a Gary Barlow and be absolutely ripped before I turn 40.
“You can call me in three years and double check!”
And he hopes the new bod will see him top the vote in Heat magazine’s Secret Crush poll, where he came 23rd last year.
Rob, who hosts the weekly podcast Parenting Hell with Josh Widdicombe, is set to embark on a three-week tour of Australia.
And tonight he appears as a judge on ITV’s Queens For The Night special.
He also found time to write his second book in as many years, Parenting Hell, on the back of the podcast, part of which he wrote at Joe Swash’s Ibiza bachelor party this summer.
Rob, who is married to teacher Lou and has two daughters aged six and four, said: ‘I slept more during this bachelor party than I have in years – that’s how much parenting is difficult.
“You can actually go and have a bachelor party in Ibiza with Joe Swash and come back rested.
“We all started drinking at noon and I finished around midnight.
“So I went to bed, I slept ten hours and since the rest of the bachelor party would not drink until noon, I had time to write in the morning.
“It was the greatest writer’s retreat of all time. I don’t know if JK Rowling or John Grisham do this, but it worked for me.
The podcast took off in April 2020 when Covid torpedoed Rob and Josh’s regular work.
Over 50 million downloads later, they now have a lucrative deal with Spotify and an arena tour next year, which includes dates at The O2 and Wembley.
Rob said: “We can’t believe how big he’s gotten. But when you think about it, of course, people are going to like a comedy moaning about how hard it is to have children.
“We’re not experts, we’re just parents who really care but don’t always feel great and I think that’s most people.”
Among her favorite guests are DJ Russell Kane, Corrie actor Simon Gregson and Myleene Klass – for her intense parenting style.
He said: “Myleene was like, ‘In our house we do a fire drill and then two hours of piano’. Oh shit! I would have hated growing up in this house. I can’t get my kids to oblige. to brush their teeth.
Rob’s big breakthrough came in 2012 in ITV2’s spin-off I’m A Celeb. And after years of skint, he finally had some cash in his pocket.
He said: “The first time I was able to fill up with gas was a great moment.
“For years I could only put on five pounds here and there and I remember putting on £45 in one day and feeling like an absolute G.”
However, he says there are downsides to stardom, like being approached for selfies while sunbathing in his trunk.
He said: “You’re topless on a beach and they’re like, ‘Can I have a picture?’ and then go take it full length. I’m like, ‘Are you crazy!’
On Queens For The Night, Rob will judge celebrities including fitness guru Mr Motivator and ex-EastEnder Adam Woodyatt go head-to-head in drag.
He said: “What was most shocking was seeing Mr Motivator, who I think is around 305 years old, still ripped and with more energy than I’ve ever had. This man is an absolute monster.
Maybe Rob can enlist him to help him on his mission to become a lean, mean machine himself.

The popstars posed on the black carpet alongside the film’s stars including Michaela Coel, Danai Gurira and Lupiat Nyong’o.

‘Appy Ellie wants new friends
SHE is married with one child, but that didn’t stop Ellie Goulding from opening a Raya account.
But the pop star isn’t looking for love like some of the app’s other famous users, instead, Ellie is looking for boyfriends.
The All By Myself singer already counts Prince Harry and Katy Perry among her close friends, but now it looks like she has more stars in her sights.
Insiders have revealed that Ellie opened an account on the celebrity app using her own name, Elena, and included photos from her Instagram.
Ellie also uses Kishi Bashi’s 2011 song It All Began With A Burst as her profile soundtrack.
A source added: “Ellie is happily married to Caspar Jopling but has kept her Raya profile open to connect with interesting people.
“She makes it clear that her profile is only for friends because it includes the tagline ‘Here, just for friends’, so that’s nothing to be untoward.”
Ellie has been working hard over the past few months to complete her fifth album, Higher Than Heaven.
She said the songs were inspired by the lockdown, adding, “There was definitely a darkness about [the past two years] it was palpable in the studio, everyone having experienced it differently.
“I think for that reason nobody wanted to sit and agonize over a relationship or a drama.
“That’s how this album was born.”

Reinforcement is the splits for Hugh
HUGH JACKMAN is doing everything he can to get in shape to reprise his role as Wolverine.
The actor, who currently stars in The Music Man on Broadway, admits he’s cut two pairs of pants in the past few weeks as he gets stronger.
A split occurred minutes before he took the stage.
Hugh said: “I had about two minutes. I said to the manager: ‘New pants!’ I had my pants around the ankles.
“I said to myself, ‘if my chest of drawers doesn’t arrive in time, it’s better to continue in slit pants than without pants’.
“I saw him running from right to left, at full speed. We made it just in time.”
I’m also bulking up right now, but it’s more beer and fries than chicken and veggies.
