Nicole Rashell Moniz, 37, of Ripon, WI, walked into the Arms of Waiting God on Saturday, August 21, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on June 4, 1984 at the Berlin hospital, to Rick and Becky (Ebert) Koon. Nicole grew up in Ripon. As a child, she loved dance lessons and was part of the Ripon High School dance team. Nicole played the piano, played softball and taught Sunday school as a teenager at Grace Lutheran Church. After graduating from Ripon High School in 2002, she and her future husband, Tom Moniz, attended UW Stevens Point, where she majored in social work. She and Tom got married on August 6, 2005, at St. Wenceslas Church in Ripon. While Tom attended Milwaukee Law School, Nicole began her professional life helping others as a matchmaker with Big Brothers Big Sisters Milwaukee.
Tom and Nicole chose to return to Ripon to further their careers and raise a family in the small town where they had loved growing up. Nicole was a tennis coach for a while and worked as a social worker at Lakeland Care, where she improved the lives of her clients, a stressful but rewarding position.
Nicole was happier doing for others. Whether planning a big party or texting a love text, her passion brought joy to those lucky enough to know and love her. His heart was made to give without measure. Tom and his boys were the center of his universe. She has never been known to speak ill of anyone or hold a grudge. She has spent countless hours planning celebrations for her family and friends. She created an amazing home learning environment for the boys during the Covid lockdown, claiming it was in many ways the happiest time of her life due to the hours spent with her family. She also loved supporting her boys’ athletic endeavors and spending hours on Green Lake in their boat. She loved Jesus and was an active member of the Early Congregational Church in Ripon. Supporting our downtown businesses was a passion for her. She loved to cook and fully embraced the challenges of cooking gluten free for Tom and Carter. With a heart of gold and a wonderful sense of humor, she always laughed out loud as she recalled funny family stories. His smile was one in a million.
Her father said that she lived every day paying for her life forward. She will be missed for her wonderful smile which revealed her unique inner beauty. His soul found its meaning in the gift. Those who knew Nicole knew a rare and gentle kindness. She will leave a great loss to all who knew her, but her loved ones will find some peace in continuing to share her special light by seeing the good in others. Her last gift to others in this life was to give the gift of life herself through organ donation.
