The Lee School of Music to present the faculty gala

The Lee University School of Music will present the first installment of this year’s performing arts series, the Faculty Gala. Showcasing Lee’s vocal and instrumental faculty, the concert will take place on Thursday, September 30 at 7:30 p.m. at Pangle Hall.

“The School of Music and Lee University are fortunate to have faculty with exceptional musical talent,” said Dr. William Green, Dean of the School of Music. “It is our privilege to share this with our community at this year’s Performing Arts Series Teachers Gala. I can’t think of any better way to start the series this year than with these fabulous performers. “

The evening will highlight a variety of music and collaborations. Pieces such as “The Presentation of the Rose” by Richard Strauss from the comedy opera “Der Rosenkavalier”, “Amidst Darkness” by Andy Harnsberger by Lee, “The Nearness of You” by Hoagy Carmichael and “Carnival by Vienna “by Moritz Rosenthal will be realized.

The vocal performances will be presented by the singing teachers of the School of Music Chery Brendel, soprano; Ron Brendel, tenor; Lenena Brezna, soprano; Andrea Dismukes, mezzo-soprano; James Frost, tenor; and Nathaniel Olsen, baritone.

The instrumental performances will feature Andy Harnsberger, marimba; Tom Hurst, drums; Caitlin Jones, marimba; Jonathan Jung, piano; ChoEun Lee, piano; Shawn Perkinson, guitar; Brian Reichenbach, trumpet; David Slack, bass; Doug Warner, trombone; Vanessa Wei, piano; Mary Beth Wickes, piano; and Alan Wyatt, saxophone.

The teachers of the School of Music hold graduate degrees from renowned universities around the world, include directors who have performed in numerous orchestras and symphonies, and soloists who have performed with various ensembles and in prestigious venues across the world.
